Dress Shopping

I went dress shopping this past monday! I dont think that getting married really hit me until i put on that first gown.

My mom and Fiances mom were the only two that came with me, which is what I wanted. Too many people with too many (and different) likes, dislikes, thoughts and ideas can be very confusing.

I handed the lady that was working with me pictures of the dresses that I had ripped out of magazines, and so that is what she got for me to try on. I liked them- especially the first dress I tried on, but there was something not right. Then another lady brought over a dress I dont think I ever would have thought about trying on- well it was amazing. Not your typical wedding gown. Which made me walk around the shop and pick out a few dresses that I thought were different.

I tried on every kind of dress you could imagine, just to see what looked best on me. Halter- doesnt look good on my frame.. but the strapless... perfect. Atleast I know that.

I am posting this today- to give my advice about dress shopping. TRY EVERYTHING ON. Even if you dont think you will like you- you'll be surprised. There are some amazing dresses out there and it is definitely worth the time to see what they look like on you.

I didnt buy by dress on monday, I want to look around a little bit - it's a big decision. But there is one that I really really like (even if my mom doesn't). I am afraid that trying on too many will only confuse me, but it is a risk I am willing to take.

Sara and Wes* October 8-10th, 2010

Columbus Day Weekend was pretty busy here at the hotel and part of that busyness was Sara and Wes's Wedding! They are an amazing couple that came all the way from Minnesota!

Theyre weekend started on Friday night when we had a rehearsal in the Fenway Room and then a reception in the Washington Room with a display of food, beverages and dessert.

On Saturday, Sara and Wes got married in the Fenway Room. I was there by their side, telling each bridesmaid and even the bride and her father when to go down the aisle (so there are no worries, if you are looking to have your ceremony and reception here at the hotel, I am with you for everything!)
One of the ideas for the ceremony that I loved, was that they did a "Time Capsule". Sara's Uncle built the box, they put a bottle of wine and wine glasses with their initials in the box, along with a letter written to each other. The box is not to be open unless there are trouble/hard times through out their marriage- they are to open the box, read the letters and remember why they fell in love in the first place. If they do not open it, then they will open it on their 25th Wedding Anniversary, read the letters and drink the wine.
I think that it is a very cute idea. Something to keep in mind for myself! :)
Below are pictures of the Belvidere Ballroom set for their wedding. They put together an excellent Green and Black Wedding. Two colors I am sure that brides would be hesitant to put together.
The cake below is from Cakes for Occasions, which is delicious, and they are part of our package. Her Caketopper she brought herself, and I believe she ordered them from Etsy.com. Which is an amazing site that Sara introduced me to! so check it out!
They had a head table, which is very rare these days, but it looked really good in the room, and she had some really cute flower arrangements placed on the table. You cant see it in this picture, but I put flower petals on the table as well.
One idea that was super cute, was that Sara provided Vases with her bridesmaids names on them on their head table so that they would have a place for their bouquets. The leaf went with their theme.
her centerpeice were DIY, well Sara provided the items and I put them together for her. Which I loved. But they were very simple and were cute. I love the green!
One Sunday they offered breakfast to their overnight guests in the Adams Room, which they brought in Dunkin Donuts Coffee, Bagels and Donuts. A really cute way to end an amazing weekend.

Just a Note...

It has been a busy year! Even with a few weeks off from weddings, I have still been in Wedding Mode, along with holiday party and other social events mode. Which is why it has been taking me a little bit longer than normal to get my pictures up. So far I have 12 weddings booked for 2011, which is awesome! And I am in the process of booking more. (If you know anyone looking for a venue, send them my way! or if you are a potential bride, then you should know that we have a variety of dates still available and I would love to talk to you more about your wedding)

For all of my readers, I will also keep you updated on my own wedding plans! :) We set a date! October 15, 2011, We booked our venue to host our ceremony and reception at the Zukas Hilltop Barn in Spencer, MA. Out other option... here at the hotel.. believe it or not, it was an option, but I have always dreamed about getting married outside and we got very lucky with the date being available so we took it! We have our wedding party and that is about it. Once things slow down for me I plan on looking and talking to some vendors and maybe go dress shopping. It has been nice to take it all in. I still look down at my ring and can't believe that it's there!
I hope that everyone is having an amazing time planning. I read in a magazine somewhere that you should take 1 day off from planning to spend it with your fiance. As exciting as getting married is, and the planning can consume your life, always take that time to relax and appreciate each other. The reason why you are getting married is because you love each other so much, and it is all about yourselves, don't let everything else get in the way of that.

Let me know if you have any questions about anything! feel free to email me at any time.. jocelyn.dellarosa@hilton.com, I also have a portion down the bottom of my blog where you can ask questions.

And if you want me to keep you updated and share all of my wedding ideas and plans let me know, I would be more than happy to post everything!

Joc

p.s. thank you everyone for reading my blog, I've never thanked my readers before and today I feel as though it is important to do so. But I never thought that I would reach over 2,100 hits. You guys are amazing. :)

Heather and Eric* August 7, 2010

Heather and Eric met at Berklee College of Music which inspired their music themes wedding! What an amazing, caring, and talented couple! Starting off with their Tiffany Blue Color, their rare Orchid, their amazing wedding cake, and Piano stylings from the bride!

Heather performed the song that Eric and his mother danced to. She was amazing!

Their Orchids were ordered and delivered especially for them. When they were shipped they were purple, they then turned to the blue color that you see above.

A candle, matches and a piece of Chocolate (in the shape of a music note, ofcourse!) in their Tiffany Blue color was left on the napkin at every seat.

Above is their cake topper, made at Montilio's. They told me that they plan on putting the topper in the card box that you see below. The card box was an awesome idea. It has their name and date on it. Which is an amazing keepsake!
One of my favorite ideas, which couples have been doing, and which I will do for my own wedding, is the Wedding Pictures/Pictures of their parents and grandparents. Which is what Eric and Heather did here on their escort card table.

They had a guest book on the escort card table, but they also had a cymbol for their guests to sign. Eric is a drummer so it went perfectly with their music theme!

Suzanne and Ted* July 31, 2010

Suzanne and Ted are an amazing couple. They got married in Southie and then had a police escort from their picture location to the hotel. (it great knowing the right people). One of the most important things for them was for their guests to have a good time- which is exactly what happened. The cocktail reception and dinner were great- but after they invited their guests down to FORTY DALTON, ordered some food and had an after party.

Below are some of the pictures from their day.

Instead of favors they donated money to Dana Farber in honor of Suzzane's father who passed away from cancer. They also gave out the white bracelets for their guests to honor him throughout the night.
